1. Policy Statement
AJ Cleaning & Property Maintenance is committed to providing an effective and supportive injury management and Return to Work (RTW) program. We aim to assist injured employees in recovering and returning to meaningful employment as soon as safely possible.
Our injury management approach complies with the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (VIC) and WorkSafe Victoria requirements.
2. Objectives
- Facilitate early reporting and treatment of work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Provide injured workers with safe, suitable duties during their recovery.
- Promote open communication between employees, management, and treating practitioners.
- Support injured workers' psychological and physical well-being.
- Ensure legal compliance with injury management and RTW obligations.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and subcontractors of AJ Cleaning & Property Maintenance who sustain a work-related injury or illness.
4. Injury Management Process
- Immediate Action: Provide first aid and seek medical attention as required.
- Incident Reporting: Injuries must be reported to a supervisor as soon as possible using internal reporting forms.
- Medical Treatment: Injured workers may choose their treating doctor, but AJ Cleaning recommends WorkSafe-aligned providers familiar with occupational injuries.
- Communication: Regular contact with the injured worker to provide support and updates.
5. Return to Work (RTW) Program
- We will provide suitable duties wherever possible that match medical restrictions and aid recovery.
- RTW plans are developed collaboratively between the injured worker, management, treating practitioners, and insurers if applicable.
- All RTW arrangements aim for the worker's safe, durable return to pre-injury duties, where achievable.
- We will modify tasks, hours, equipment, or environments as needed to support recovery.
6. Employee Responsibilities
- Report injuries immediately and complete required forms.
- Attend medical appointments and follow treatment advice.
- Actively participate in suitable duties and RTW plans.
- Communicate regularly with management about recovery progress.
7. Employer Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate first aid and emergency support.
- Report serious incidents to WorkSafe where required.
- Consult with the injured worker and medical professionals regarding RTW options.
- Document all injury management activities and maintain confidentiality.
8. Confidentiality
All personal information related to injuries, medical conditions, or RTW processes will be handled in strict confidence in accordance with privacy legislation.
9. Continuous Improvement
- Regular review of injury management practices.
- Analysis of injury trends to implement preventive measures.
- Training for managers and supervisors on RTW processes.
